In “To Kill a Mockingbird”, Miss Maudie quotes, “Anything that’s pleasure is a sin.” Miss Maudie, the Finch’s neighbor, is wrong about this. God wants us to be joyful and to have fun during our time on Earth. Ecclesiastes 2:24 declares, “There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God”. Activities that bring joy and pleasure can be worldly and sinful, but many others are Godly. God says in Ecclesiastes 8:15a, “So I recommend the enjoyment of life, for there is nothing better on Earth for a person to do except eat, drink, and enjoy life.” The Lord tells us in this verse that He wants us to have joy, fun and pleasure.
