Judith Baca (1946- ), an American Chicano muralist, visual artist, educator, and activist who intertwines art and socialism. As the founder of SPARC, Social and Public Art Resource Center she focuses on helping youth channel their artistic talent in a productive manner allowing them to turn their lives around. As her life goal, Baca “addresses social justice issues for ethnic neighborhoods”. Best known for the “Great Wall of Los Angeles”, an inner city mural painted over seven summers encompassing herself and 400 student artist ranging in age from 14-21.
