I: Primary Purpose and Introduction Jump-roping has been around forever and started off being used for boxers, martial artist, and wrestlers. These days it has expanded too many more athletes in a variety of sports. “The sport training benefits include increased speed, power, agility, and explosiveness. Fitness benefits include weight loss, increased cardiovascular, increased anaerobic conditioning, and improved balance/coordination” (Lee) So obviously jump-roping can increase sports performance of any athlete if done correctly. When jump-roping the rope starts on the posterior side then is brought over the head to the anterior side which begin the phases of jump-roping. Once that occurs you begin to enter the loading phase which looks similar to squatting. Then the second phase comes into play but there are two parts of phase two. First is the propulsion part when there is a push off the surface with the feet to become airborne. The rope is on its way down will underpass the feet in the airborne phase. The upper and lower body is working together to maintain a safe and easy way to jump-rope. Finally once the rope passes under the feet the body starts to descend to the ground. This is the landing phase where joints absorb the shock and then are ready to go and repeat the steps/phases again. …show more content…
