Just Do it Every image has a purpose; companies place advertisements on television, magazines, and even the Internet. The companies goal is to target consumers and create an image that eventually every person will associate with that brand. Nike is a brand that’s slogan, “Just Do it” is recognized by many throughout the world. Nike didn’t earn this reputation by putting out thoughtless ads, they earned it by creating ads that hold a purpose and share a global understanding. Nike does a fantastic job putting out images that any type of athlete can relate to. This image appeals to athletes and even people who strive to be more active in their daily lives.
“Most if not all images have a meaning that is preferred by their producers”(Cartwright & Sturken, 2009, p.53). Nike’s preferred image is a brand that stands for giving everything 100 percent and to always finish what has been started. This illustration depicts just that; the man looks as if he is in battle giving everything he has in order to come out on top. The image only uses two colors, gray is used as the backdrop and even the mans skin has a gray tone. While red is used in a bold way being splattered on the mans chest, hands and face.
