Juveniles V. S. Parole Do you think juveniles belong in jail? Juveniles act on impulses and don t think right from wrong a lot of the time. They do terrible things and make bad decisions, just like Cedric Rue, who committed first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Do you think he is better? Juveniles deserve a chance to regret and fix themselves and their decisions, a chance for their brains to develop, learn how to control their impulses, and become better people. Do teenagers have less impulse control than adults? Scientific research found that areas of the brain that deal with decision-making, impulse control, and consequences are not fully developed. Juveniles are just kids trying to find their way, you never know what these kids could be going through and why they made these crazy decisions. Research also showed that adolescents are most likely to respond to interventions and grow out of delinquent behavior. Juveniles don't always understand the consequences of their actions. They follow their impulses and make bad decisions and that's what teaches most juveniles to be right from wrong. They make mistakes and learn from them. Minors should be punished for their actions. They still made a huge, terrible mistake. Juveniles make dumb decisions and if someone commits first-degree murder they should get the punishment coming for them. Juveniles should get a chance to fix the wrongs they have done.
