I woke up at 4:00 in the morning and made it to the school at 5:00 a.m. It was Tuesday, March 21st and as soon as we were on the bus it seemed like most all the kids were asleep in the first 20 minutes. We were headed to the state capital, Topeka, Kansas. On the trip all of the main places we went were the Kansas History Museum, Brown vs. Board of Education, the State Capitol Building and lastly the Dwight D. Eisenhower Museum. The Kansas History Museum was very cool. I already knew most of the basics like when Kansas became a state on January 29, 1861 and it was the 34th state to enter the union. What I did not know was that the longest part of the Sante Fe Trail was located in Kansas. It had many displays and interesting pictures to look at. There were wax figures of famous Kansans and many displays of examples to show what Indian’s houses and how they would store food looked like. The outside of the building was such a very cool sight to see. Inside they had the original copper door that you would go through to overlook Topeka in the dome. Next to the door they had the original copper window from the state house, it was a very big window. When you would walk the halls there were pictures just lined up descripting on the history of the building and Kansas. All of the murals were just astounding, the artists were amazing. I personally loved the Kansas Pastoral, painted by John Stewart Curry. The heart on the back of the bull was very faint, but you could see it and once you did it seemed to explain the whole painting. John painted the people to be very big to explain that the people of Kansas are the most important part. In my opinion the way up to the dome was pretty scary. The most scary part to me had to be the spiral staircase at the top. Once I got all the way up I was shaking a lot, but the view was
