The contraction test that Hampton’s proposes both Hobbes and Kant’s positions on if a person can be a contractarian and a feminist. Hobbes believes that a person must have interest in the self or self-interest. Kant believes that individuals should respect and consider other individual’s worth. Hampton claims that a person cannot be a contractarian and a feminist. Instead, contractarianism can clarify wrongs and mess-ups in relationships. This leads to one person doing all of the work and the other person in the relationship is receiving all of the benefits.
The problems in moral theory it is meant to address are social contract and the state of nature leading to problems. These problems can come from passions like greed or fear. They could
