Karen Springen has a very clear and strong opinion about letting her children watch TV. Since TV is a great tool for kids to learn, there are many channels on TV that contain educational programs that support children to develop and obtain useful information such as Cartoon Network, Discovery, History, and Disney Channels...Cartoon Network and Disney Channel can provide entertaining and humorous animations that can be a crucial boost for kid’s imagination, Discovery and history channel contain significant and useful educational information that help children learn. In the article “Why We Tuned Out”, Karen Springen said that “As the girls grow older, we can’t completely shield them away from TV. We’ll probably watch Olympic rhythmic gymnastics; the girls love it. And if Jazzy’s favorite baseball team, the Cubs, ever make the World Series, we’ll tune in.” In these two sentences, Karen is being a hypocrite. Her entire article is about how much she prevents her children from watching TV because it a bad influence on them. Ironically, she also claimed that she used to love a cartoon character when she was young, and she tries her best to prevent that from her
