From the map, we can see human caricatures replacing the plain, old, boring shapes that is used to represent the countries/continents which mostly likely is used to describe each country’s “character” which could be read via the German text at the bottom of the map.

Moreover, Russia was illustrated had an “Angel of Peace” on his hat, holding onto a bottle of Vodka on one hand, and a whip in another. Even though Russia is said to have “created” vodka, it is definitely a witty way to represent Russia humorously, but I think that Karl Lehman-Dunmont is suggesting that Russia has no idea what he is doing. War and peace are like polar opposites. Donning on a hat that represents peace and invading someone’s land, especially under influence of alcohol, definitely suggest that Russia has no idea what he is doing. The whip that Russia is holding is thought to be the “whip of revolution” . Due to the Russian Revolution in 1917, I would assume that the whip that Russia is holding was to depict the control of the Russian Government on its citizens, forcing the citizens to follow their bidding despite problems that would arise with war (i.e. “economic instability and the scarcity of
