Author's background
Kate Chopin is considered an early feminist writer due to her writings. In her writings, Kate brought power to women by surfacing some of her thoughts about her marriage. She was unafraid to put her life experiences into words and distribute them amongst the world. Though society frowned upon Kate's writings, she continued to write even more stories.
"The Story of an Hour" is one of Kate's popular written works. She portrays the taste of freedom when she finds out that her husband has been recently killed in an accident. It is abnormal for women to be happy about their husband's death, but Kate managed to write about how death opened a new window for a new life to begin. During her life, she lost almost all the men that a served purpose in her life. Her mother and great-grand-mother raised Kate after her father died in an accident like the one in her short story. Growing up with women provided Kate with the mindset of a feminist. A wife was supposed to take care of her husband and her children while her husband went off to work every day.

I lie here wondering when I will develop the strength to part
