She went on to have a thirty-three year long career at NASA contributing to other missions and working in different programs at NASA. Those programs include working on the Space Shuttle program, the Earth Resources satellite, and even worked on plans for a mission to Mars. Johnson retired from NASA in 1986. Johnson was a mathematician if we specify her field of study and while she didn’t contribute huge findings and research she still accomplished a lot. Johnson contributed a lot to society and NASA. “Her legacy includes an extraordinary social impact as a pioneer in space science and computing,” Johnson played an important role at NASA and if it hadn’t been for her work, who knows when NASA would have sent a man to space. She has contributed to the scientific progress in her field by helping the first American man get into space with her calculations. I think that at the time when Johnson was doing her calculations for NASA in the 1960’s her findings were durable, they were even durable after real computers took over the work of “human
