Essay “Do what is right, not what is easy” - unknown. Katniss Everdeen uses herself to uphold an icon for all Panem to see and acknowledge her doings. Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games” displays a character named Katniss Everdeen, who reveals herself as a rebellious, compassionate, determined person who fights for her human rights and justice for the districts against the Capitol, revealing herself as a true leader.
Some per se might think a rebellion is an act of defiance to gain attention, for their own personal needs. But instead, this situation is far from “personal”. As time passed more and more people formed to make achieve a new uprising against the Capitol, due to the poverty and lack of daily hygiene provided to the districts. But above all volunteering children from 12-18 to slaughter each other in a battle for the sake of ‘entertainment’, they dare not to refuse what was asked if them, in a reminder to the consequence District 13 faced: “Look how we take your children and sacrifice them and there’s nothing you can do. Katniss never abandoned standing against the Capitol, and never neglected the reason she volunteered herself. Her family. “I volunteer!”. When those words came out she knew it was due to love and determining safety for her family. This didn’t stop as she entered the games, it only increased as her danger escalated. “This is it, I think, and hope for *Peeta’s sake it will be fast. But Clove means to savor the moment”. Originating from volunteering to faded thoughts of her loved ones Katniss’ top priority was to protect the people close to her, by all means.
