Angela Lohman English II Career Paper 8 March 2024 Kennel Technician I have wanted to be a kennel technician since I was really young. I have always loved animals, so when I learned about being a kennel technician it sounded really enjoyable. I went home and started my research immediately about all the jobs in the animal field and decided that a kennel technician sounded like it'd fit me most. It was simple for me. I have good math and science skills. I am a quick learner and I'm good at listening. I also like the fact it pays well enough for my estimated monthly bills. To be a successful kennel technician I am required to have skills such as being a good listener and giving my full attention. I also need to be willing to help others (“animal caretaker”). I'm a good helper and can listen really well. I will also probably need to have a strong stomach to clean up the bodily fluids left behind. I am good with communication, which will be very helpful so that my coworkers understand the plan. I would need to be on my feet alot which is no problem for me. The salary of a kennel technician is 3 levels. Starting out, I can make $22,250 a year. After years of working I can make $29,530 yearly. Finally, at level 3 I can make up to $44,280 (“animal caretaker”). Of course in order to make that much I would have years of experience and would have probably expanded your education and are in your retirement years. Kennel technicians have to use various types of technology, such as being able to use computers to make powerpoints for presentations. I would also need to be good at creating schedules for appointments (“animal caretaker”). I would need to be able to read and write emails. I would need other tools such as thermometers and possibly
