Boxer Revolution -The Boxer Rebellion occurred on June 22nd, 1900 in China when insurgents from the group Righteous and Harmonious murder German ambassador Baron von Ketteler. These rebels were known as “Boxers” by Westernized states because they practiced boxing methods they believed would make them invulnerable to bullets. Boxers tried to prevent Westernization from occurring from Japan and the United States. The uprising ended when China agreed to the Boxer Protocol on September 7, 1901 between the Qing Emperor and various European countries.

The Russo-Japanese war was mainly fought between Russia and Japan over who controlled modern day Korea and Manchuria. The Treaty of Portsmouth would end the war on September 5, 1905 declaring Japan the victor.

World War One -The First Great War began on June 28th, 1914 when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in Bosnia. The Central Powers (Germany, Austria, Hungary, and The Ottoman Empire) faced off against the Allied Powers (United Kingdom, France, Russia, Italy and Japan) in a war with high amounts of death due to innovations such as chemical warfare and automatic guns. The war would end in victory of the Allied Powers after the United States joined and would officially end with the Treaty of Versailles on June 28th, 1919.

Panama Canal - After Panama gained independence from Columbia, Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States) gained territory for construction of the Panama Canal. Construction began in 1904 and the first boat sailed through the canal on January 7, 1914. The Panama Canal would cut 5,800 miles off of a ship's voyage as they no longer have to go around South America to reach the West
