America needs to build the Keystone pipeline because it will boost the economy, stimulate tax revenue, and improve our energy security.

To begin with, anything that is built needs workers and indirect jobs to get things done. The article, “Here are the jobs the Keystone Pipeline would create under Trump’s executive order”(1), by Ellen Rald projected how many jobs it would create. “...that anywhere from 250,348 to 553,235 spin-off jobs would be created.” (Rald Par. 2) With all these jobs it would boost our economy, about 2 billion in wages just for the field workers, which is about $47,000 a person on the job. Also, with building this it insures the US that the oil prices will stable out for many years to come because the US will always crude

A write up from TransCanada/KeystoneXL.com shows the potential tax revenue for the area around the pipeline. “As found in the FSEIS, those benefits would include… significant property tax revenues, as well as sales and use and other tax revenues.” (Par. 7) All this money created would go to states along the projected pipe route. About $55.6 million spread across 27 counties in just three states. That could all be used to build roads, improve schools, and help hospitals. Another help to the tax revenue is the fat check the EPA would get from the TransCanada company. In that same write up from TransCanada/KeystoneXL.com it said that the EPA will receive a multi-billion dollar deal. “Construction of KXL is also expected to contribute approximately $3.4 billion to the U.S. EPA.” (Par. 4) This huge bonus the that agency gets will help them pay employers and protect and manage the environment. The EPA spends a lot of money every year on employees alone. According to the EPA website they pay about 8 billion just on employees. Getting a 3.4 billion dollar bonus is huge in helping them pay off their employees. This means they could spend more money on the important things the EPA …show more content…
To begin with, America is outdated in terms of crude oil infrastructures, this pipeline is top of the line quality and up to date. The article “Advancing Energy Security” by Joseph Myers shows the major energy improvements. “The project is an important new piece of modern U.S. infrastructure that secures access to an abundant energy supply produced by a neighbor [Canada] that shares a commitment to a clean and healthy environment.” (Par. 3) With having this pipeline America would have jumpstarted the energy crisis and will have moved forward in infrastructure technology. America’s demand in oil is higher than ever. A write up from oilsandfactcheck.org showed just how important Canada’s oil production is to the U.S. “Canada is actually our largest supplier of imported oil, making up 28 percent of our imports” With Canada making up 28% of America’s oil consumption a straight shot pipeline to America’s biggest refinery in Texas would be very efficient energy security. Another improvement that this pipeline makes is that it will help America in the near future. The article “Energy Security” showed a prediction of the oil consumption in America in years to come. “IEA found that oil sands supply in North America will grow by 3.9 million barrels per day from 2012 to 2018” That’s 1,423,500 barrels more a year. This pipeline can only help America in moving the
