Kilgore College Jazz Concert Review

I attended the Kilgore College Invitational Jazz Festival on April 27, 2024. The location of the performance was in the Dodson Auditorium at Kilgore College. As stated in the name of the performance, this type of concert was Jazz with performers from High School Jazz Bands, Percussion Groups, Kilgore College Jazz Ensemble, and KC Steel. As soon as I walked into the auditorium, I was greeted with classical Jazz playing while the audience waited for the live performers to show up on the stage. I chose this concert because my boyfriend loves Jazz music and wanted to accompany me to this one in particular. I also really enjoy Jazz so it ended up being a perfect live performance to attend. I enjoyed the scenery, and loved the enthusiasm of the performers, especially Destin Ramos, who was playing the drums; it looked like they all had a great time performing. …show more content…
The group performed seven songs in total and started with Come Fly With Me by Frank Sinatra, second in chacha style, third in bebop style of jazz, fourth Running With Scissors, fifth In the Wee Small Hours, sixth Collidoscope, and lastly The Way You Look Tonight. The ensemble was positioned with the drummer on the left side of the stage, the saxophonists sitting in the first row along with one clarinet, the trumpets standing in the back, and in some songs featuring two conga drums played by Brennet. During the last song, singer Jordan Reynolds sang alongside the song The Way You Look Tonight. My favorite composition was Running With Scissors by Gordon Goodwin. This song features.
