What would happen if a massive killer plague swept through our society today? Such an event did occur around 1345-1350 in the Middle East and Europe. The two main religions at that time were Christianity and Islam. In this essay I will explore how the two religions’ responses differed. If I were to rate the negative response of the European Christian population, I think that it would be almost a nine out of ten. This is simply because they were angry at their church, but I will delve into that later. When the plague first “arrived” in Europe, people generally went to priests for salvation while praying at the churches (Doc. 6). But, instead of relying on God to pull them through it, they instead turned away from the faith (Doc. 6).
