Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly is Anthony Bourdain’s memoir about his 25 years in the culinary industry. The book begins with Bourdain developing a love for food, while in France as a child. It moves to his humble beginning in the culinary industry as a lowly dishwasher at a seasonal New England restaurant. While working at this restaurant Bourdain gains an appreciation for the restaurant business, especially chefs. His newfound appreciation and a failed job as a chef motivate him to attend the Culinary Institute of America. From there we see him work his way up the culinary ladder to the position of executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles, with no small amount of sex, drugs, and alcohol along the way. Kitchen
