John Kotter's 8 step change model begins with creating a clear, compelling vision, providing the employees a reason for the change; however, to have the vision adequately carried out, the motive and means must be equipped to do so. This assignment is intended to analyze the Alaska Airlines: Navigating Change case study, with the purpose to indicate how executives utilized Kotter's Steps 5 and 6 to strengthen their change effort. Per the Heart of Change Field Guide, John Kotter's Step 5: Enable Action "enables a broad base of people to take action by removing as many barriers to the implementation of the change vision as possible" (Cohen, 2009).
