Parents nowadays are protecting their kids as much as possible by not exposing them to the dramatic reality that is going on in their planet. It's not a topic you sit down to talk to kids. When reading stories, kids don't go think to deep into the story their being read to. “La Migra” by Pat Mora uses child's language to inform the reader about illegal immigration. “La Migra” first invites the reader to play a game and assigns the reader their roll. The poem gives the reader their weapons, their knowledge and setting.
The two characters give you the setting of their battle ground. They set the setting of where they are both trying to win. They are both in the desert but the way they both describe it is different. They don't tell you anything

The child doesn't really notice that part as they should. The battle ground where these two character are act gives the poem life. It hides that the desert is a dangerous place to be walking for hours at a time.
“La Migra” hides the reality of what happens in the south of our borders in a poem. A child would read the first line “Lets play a Game.” (1) and instantly be engaged by inviting the child to what they think is a game. This, to them will seem like a cool similar game. Cops and Robber is similar to the game acted in the poem. This poem is using a more stronger authority and a different type of crime. The Border Patrol is the cop and the women running from the patrol officer is the robber.
Pat Mora’s poem has two stanzas, the first inviting the reader to be the women. The second stanzas switches to where the reader is invited to be the border patrol. These stanzas switches character so that the reader is experiencing being both rolls. The one thing they both have in common is that they both describe their advantages in this situation. Border Patrol states very clearly that he has some pretty strong enough build equipment to capture this women. The jeep has air conditioning, a perfect speed for catch her, sunglasses to see her in the sun.“I get the badge and sunglasses.” (4) “because I have a jeep”
