The development of Labor Unions was lead by the problems the United States was facing during the 20th century. By the 1900s the Industrial Revolution began in America this was a period where there was new machines, factories, and more improved transportation. While it helped improve the lifestyle of some for others this meant working in sweatshops with poor working conditions. This started the rise of Labor Unions, specifically the Knights of Labor that fought equal pay for equal work. Though they fought for what they thought was right, Labor Unions demolished the free market and punished the wealthy by causing severe property damage, shutting down the country’s railroad system, and positioning the business owners at fault.
