Coastal management is an issue in Australia as most Australians live on or near the coast where there is continuing population and development pressure, particularly on Lady Robinsons Beach. There are also physical and human forces that influence the coastal shape, as well as the people who live nearby and the ecology. Another factors that affect the coast in Australia, and Lady Robinson’s Beach, are geographical processes like erosion and wave attack. To manage the coast in Australia, the government and other local organizations have proposed strategies and solutions which proved to be successful.

It impacted the tourism as the sand washed away and tourists could not access the beach. The erosion is also a barrier to people who used the beach for recreational reasons, like paddling, jogging or exercising etc. The erosion didn’t only impact the tourism and recreation, but more serious affection is the risk to some residents who feared for their houses. The coastal erosion influenced the ecology. The sand dune depletion lowered the vegetation that already existed along the beach. In response to the erosion that has been occurring along LRB, two groyne fields containing six groynes each have been constructed. The first groyne field has been established in 1997 while the second one in 2005. The groynes are placed along the beach to protect it and keep it as a recreational area. The negative side of inserting groynes is that the beach requires sand renourishment every decade to keep the stability of LRB. To restore the beach and prevent further erosion, the local government has used the method of planting to stabilise the dune. These methods lowered the risk of damaging the beach and surrounding objects, but the erosion is still an issue and there are still conversations between the governments about
