The Lady Trailblazers of the Villagers Recreational Softball League started using a Jugs pitching machine. This is the first year the Lady Trailblazers have used the pitching machine. The machine is designed to assist villagers who may be restricted because of their current health or people who might have issues with their reflexes, which heightened the need for a machine.

According to Avis Vaught of the village of Belvedere, the Lady Trailblazers give villagers a recreational outlet, and the machine makes life easier for villagers who want to actively participate in softball.

"Previously, we batted off a tee for training, allowing people to learn how to hit and coach pitching," Vaught said. The pitching machine is a big part of the Trailblazer's program. It's a ladies' division, and the pitching machine assists because we don't have live pitchers. The pitching machine is vital to the actual game, so that the game can be played. It's a hit-and-run game, and the Trailblazers like to have people hit-and-run. The pitching machine is vital because it allows villagers to play the game they love." …show more content…
The pitching machine is used as a training tool," Vaught said. We want them to see the ball they want to hit successfully. I use the training tool in my classes, and it helps speed up the game; it helps provide balls so batters can hit a good ball, and it helps the game move faster. Some ladies are new to softball, some are older, and they want to play.
