Life was very difficult for Lakota people. We depended on ourselves to survive. We hunted for our own food. Also personally built our own house that we could take down and put up somewhere else. Usually we would have to worry about other animals trying to attack us. We had to be ready if severe weather came. A typical home looked big on the outside small on the inside there wasn’t any beds, stoves or even a shower we had quilts to sleep with. We had set places where they were supposed to sleep and sit. I couldn’t sit or lay anywhere else besides where my set place was. It was mainly just plain nothing in their home besides clothes, quilts, tools and weapons maybe other things also. anywhere around the village we did a lot of dancing, played games sang songs, and worked around our villages. we had horses and dogs as pets. I lived a normal life mainly just worked harder than most of the people today. My people lived a pretty healthy lifestyle mainly eating a lot of protein. Mainly ate a lot of buffalo we never wasted any of it we always used every single part of the buffalo and the parts they couldn’t eat like the bones they used for other things like tools and or weapons. I also ate different types of berries and other plants they may have found. My people and I wore homemade things like knitted shirts, pants, and shoes. We sometimes used beads and paint to help decorate their clothing. I played all sorts of things like the bull roarer which is an ancient ritual instrument which was mainly used for communicating. Also played with slingshots and used bones as game pieces. We hunted with bows and spears some rode horses to hunt some didn’t but they would use their weapons to sneak up and attack the animals but had to be very careful because the buffalo could wound them badly or even kill us.
