The piece I am looking at is the Lamentation in the Arena Chapel. This painting was done in 1303 in Padua. This piece uses lines and colors to bring the entire picture together to work as a whole piece. The colors in the upper half of this piece are cool blues and grays surrounded by lines that make them appear segmented. The colors on the bottom half of the piece are pink, lilac, light green, orange, red, yellow and blue. The colors, except for the blue, are warm colors. The yellow around the figures head has a brightness to it. Giotto used lines to make the appearance of certain objects as well. The upper right corner has lines in many different directions to form the shape of a tree. Below that are lines to form the shape of a rock.
