In the current essay I would like to discuss a lap band procedure, post op care of a new lap band, appropriate diet of a lap band client, the rate of weight loss, and risks associated with lap band.
To begin with, it would be appropriate to describe post op care of a new lap band and what the patient should expect at home. According to Post-Operative Care, you will be able to go home the same day of surgery, if you have a lap band procedure. Once you are home and have some concerns or questions, you may call your surgeon or the nurse. At home a patient may feel weak and tired after discharge from the hospital. According to Gastric Banding Surgery Discharge Instructions, on the first day at home you can consume pureed foods that are no thicker than applesauce. Two days after surgery you may consume one ounce of a pureed food or two ounces of liquid no more frequently than every 20 minutes while you are awake. After 3-14 days after surgery you may continue pureed foods but it would be better to start to eat 4 to 6 mini-meals every day. The Lap-Band is an adjustable silicone band placed around the top part of the stomach during a laparoscopic surgical procedure designed to restrict food intake. During the procedure of the surgery, a small device, which is called a port, is placed under the skin of the abdomen. It is connected by tubing to the Lap-Band. Also, it allows the surgeon to periodically adjust the tightness of the band. It is usually done by injecting a small amount of saline water into the port.
