Today, you cannot get far without a cell phone in hand. Cell phones have become extensions of ourselves, that when we leave it behind or forget it, we start to feel incomplete. Media has taken notice of this and has found an effective and powerful way to stream news on our social media feeds. Most recently, Latinx/ Hispanic community members are painted in the light of negativity, negative stereotypes such as portraying them as undocumented, lazy, or even portrayed as criminals, creating real world consequences, such as, discrimination, fear, marginalization, and a decrease in opportunities presented to this community.
