Laura Podalsky explores the theme “aesthetics of detachment” in the article "The Aesthetics of Detachment" as how Latin American film and cinema has a notable and concurrent deadpan comedies and also minimalist dramas. She begins by identifying the most noticeable and important characteristics of the new aesthetics in Latin America cinema.
