Humanity cannot exist without law and order. Law is the balancing force of morality and principles that keep us in communities and without it we would not be human. The law is what keeps the order that prevents anarchy and makes civilization possible. The basic principles law provides give people a way to keep themselves in a regulated manner to stay together as a community. Without law, humanity would just be wild, untamed, uncivilized, out on the frontier. The dictionary definition of law is “principles and regulation in a community by some authority.” In most instances of law, there is a form of a government or authority that makes rules to keep things in balance. Law is important because it is what keeps us together as communities and civilization. Hammurabi’s code was the first form of written law. His philosophy of “an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth” was essentially you receive in punishment …show more content…
For example, the idea is explained by the book “Lord of the Flies” by how the children did not have authority and rules that they fell into chaos and everything went badly. Without law, there is no way to sustain order and stay together. If there is anarchy, there will be chaos, there will be destruction, there will be death. Having rules and regulations is the only way to survive, “We got to have rules and obey them. After all, we’re not savages.” Examples of how anarchy is something to avoid is from several countries around the world that have no laws. Some countries in the continent of Africa and some countries in the middle east are dangerous and unsafe places to be because there is currently no law in these countries. These countries have no law, no order, no peace, no safety, and people in these countries are dying or leaving the country. This is what law prevents and why it’s so important that we have it. We cannot survive without law and we hold and maintain it to stay united as
