The film "Whale Rider", directed by Niki Caro is a story about a young girl called Paikea who is destined to be the next chief in her family, which everyone can see except the most important person. Her grandfather. When she was born, her twin brother and mother died at birth, leaving just her and her father. Her grandfather, Koro, is a strong believer that boys are superior and only they can be leaders. He refuses to believe that the new leader is Pai, his own granddaughter. Pai tries hard to show to Koro she's just as strong as any boy. If Koro can't find a new chief, there will be no one to lead the next line of ancestors. He sets up a school for boys in hope of finding the new leader. If Koro doesn't realise soon that the leader is right
