After being in these poses for two minutes, the participants gave another saliva sample, explained how they felt, and were given the opportunity to gamble. The participants that were in a higher power pose gambled 26% more than the lower poses. The most startling results came from the hormone levels in saliva tests. The testosterone levels from the higher pose participants exhibited an increase of 20% while their cortisol levels decreased by 25%. In the lower pose participants, the testosterone levels revealed a 10% decrease with cortisol levels increasing by 15%. With the decreased levels of cortisol in the higher poses, the participants were better able to handle the other stressful situations of the experiment proving that answers to the experiment questions were correct.
