Lee Duane Harrington was born to Gordon and Irene Harrington (born Clark) on a snowy January 8th 1953 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. As Lee grew up he attended two elementary schools; Pinecrest Elementary in Ottawa, and Assiniboine in Winnipeg where he was a class clown and a trouble maker. The best subject at school was chemistry and his worst was math according to Lee. As a child Lee enjoyed playing crokinole, riding his bike, and sports. He enjoyed playing sports such as; baseball, soccer, volleyball, but his favorite was the 1 mile run.
Teenage Years
Lee was known as Ickie by his highschool friends Kathy Foster and Judy Carter. He attended three secondary schools; Tec Voc high in Winnipeg, Bell High in Ottawa, and Ridgemont high school in Ottawa where he had his favorite teacher Mr. Hall. He later went to Algonquin College in Ottawa. The most valuable piece of advice he was ever given to this day was to trust in yourself, given to him by a highschool teacher. He enjoyed listening to the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Dave Clark 5. As a teen ager Lee and his friends would take a daredevil leap off of Hog’s Back falls in Ottawa. The Harringtons shopped for groceries at the Dominion, and clothes at Edens. His Mom was a worrier, his Dad was busy, and his siblings were friendly. The best memory Lee has of his parents was their 50th wedding anniversary where him and his siblings threw a big surprise party with all of his parents old friends. He says the thing he remembers most was the big smiles on all of their
