Not to mention, the Centers for Disease Control states that “Every day, 28 people in the United States die in motor vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol-impaired driver. This is one death every 51 minutes. ” Since 1933, people have been able to legally purchase alcohol. In 2013, there were 991 people killed in car accidents, and 39% of those crashes were alcohol related. In addition, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism has statistics showing that there are 15.1 million adults ages 18 and older that have (or have had) Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD), and an estimated 623,000 adolescents from the ages of 12-17 that have AUD. Marijuana is quite useful in the medical field, just a few of the uses include; chronic pain which is the most common reason people are prescribed it, can also helps with muscle spasms, can be used to help prevent or treat glaucoma because marijuana decreases pressure inside the eye, CBD which a major compound that is found in marijuana can help people with epilepsy, and if used in low doses it can help with anxiety and stress, and migraines.
