Amelia has joined Mr.Hardy’s fourth grade class as an ELL student. She is struggling with her literacy skill not only because she is an ELL student, but also because she has rarely attended school in her home country. (Exhibit 1) She often does not understand Mr.Hardy’s direction and what is expected of her. Due to lack of her literacy skills development she will need support in Mr.Hardy’s lesson on electrical circuits in which they are building lemmon battery. One suggestion for a strategy to help Amelia understand instructions is to provide visual aid. Visual aid will have pictures and written instruction of what she has to do step by step to build a battery. Visual aid will also have pictures of items (knife, digital clock, copper writes)
