Lennie Outsider

Have you ever felt like you were not included in the conversation? Or have you felt like you thought no one liked you at all? An outsider is a person who does not belong to a specific group or place. Everyone is different in terms of appearance and life circumstances. Lennie in “Of Mice and Men” is treated more like an outsider than anyone in the book. Everyone in the book treats Lennie differently than others because of how disabled he is. The treatment that the others are giving to Lennie, they feel like they’re smarter than him, but not stronger. Lennie has to be the biggest outsider because he gets treated like he’s an idiot, even though he can get the job done better than anyone. Lennie will connect with my 3 claims because it’ll cover everything we need to know about how to be an outsider.

I think that Lennie is an outsider from people misunderstanding his personality. Lennie is the biggest outsider because he has a disability, so people think he’s weird and doesn’t belong. For example, in Chapter 3, page 41, of the novel when George states “Course

Lennie is the biggest outsider because he causes problems for everyone. For example, in Chapter 5, page 97, of the novel when Slim states “Well, I guess we got to get him.” This quote exemplifies that they need to kill Lennie because he murdered Curley's Wife. In a similar way, Rocket, from the movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. They both get chased down to avoid getting killed. An example of this occurs when Rocket’s friends were dead so he attempted to kill High Evolutionary, but he couldn’t so Rocket escaped. In the Medium entitled, “Ostracism: Social Exclusion in Adulthood” by Jules Dixon states, “I recently found out that the emotional bruising of ostracism can be as powerful.” Points out that everyone's mood swings can be very toxic because of their behavior that was impacted on them
