In the essay by Lewis Thomas “ To Ere is human”, there is, at least at the time, a strong interest in the perceived fallibility of computers. The bank errors, incorrect billing statements, and power outages would suggest that much like humans computers are prone to making mistakes, however, Thomas doubts the possibility of such statements.
