I remember my senior year of undergrad I was asked by Jason Williby to speak to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees about my accomplishment during my time at FHSU. The opportunity was a true gift, as I shared all my unforgettable experiences. After that speech I was overwhelmed with emotions as I felt overjoyed and surprised by how far my drive and potential had taken me. I really believed I had done it all. My resume speaks for itself, as I was one of the most involved students on campus. Volunteering at the local, state, national, and international level. When some of my students were asked if they’d recommend me as an instructor they replied “She’s very fun. Makes speeches fun and interesting. Already told my friends to take her as their speech instructor” and “She did an unbelievable job I can’t be thankful enough to have a great instructor for this course”.
I constantly strive towards making the course enjoyable and applicable. On my instructor evaluations, students mentioned “The first day to the last, I thought Ms. Avalos was outstanding. She understands what it’s like to be in college because she herself still is. Coming to class was always fun” and “We took part in many class activities which engaged the whole class in conversation which in turn, really added extra benefit to the classroom environment”.
