She is "not like any normal person," and sticks out like a penguin among flamingos (Larsson 248) ☺ (simile). Her fashion is described as grunge and her averse feelings for authority spill into her everyday life ☺ (Metaphor). This is why she does not go to the police to file a report on her rape, but rather schemes to get her own justice. Her guardian, Nils Bjurman underestimates her mental capacity and uses his control over her assets to force himself upon her. He manipulates Salander by holding her money hostage unless she will “play grown-up games” and that if she does what he commands, he will give her more money from her account (Larsson 243). He threatens her not tell about their ‘grown-up games' because it will be his word against hers and she will ultimately be put in an institution. There is no reason for her to believe the second time would be any different than the first. She makes plans with Bjurman to meet up and follows through with her plan.
