Think back to when you were in high school. Did you ever want to go explore what you were learning outside the walls of your classroom or even outside of your city? Well, that’s the kind of experience that I hope we can provide to the students of our school in the near future through this literary road trip. We were provided a budget to work with and we were able to find an educational but fun-for-all-ages experience in New York for our English students to embark on at just the right price.

The first location would be Bryant Park in Manhattan, New York where Gertrude Stein’s monument is located surrounded by informational plaques and beautiful scenery. Gertrude Stein is a female author who has contributed a lot to literature and was friends with other popular artists and authors as well. She was a collector and a woman of many talents who thrived in the 1920s that we learned about this year in English. Our next location would be at Broadway in New York, New York. This location is significant not only because of some of the most successful plays and arts being performed here, but also because the students can attend Great Gatsby, Chicago, or one of the other famous shows there about the life of the people living through the Roaring 1920s which was a big time that Scott F. Fitzgerald lived through and wrote about. Plays and performances have always been a big form of entertainment and Fitzgerald was a visitor in New York quite often. We were fortunate enough to learn about some of his famous works in the last two semesters of this year. The last literary location of this trip would be at the Ernest Hemingway: Between Two Wars Exhibition in New York, New York. At this exhibit, the high school students would have the chance to further look at the life of Ernest Hemingway and how some of his experiences really
