Little Bluestem-Dry is found in the highest elevations of Marlatt park, on top of cuestas and other upland slopes seen in Figure 2. The elevation of this ecosystem ranges from 1335 feet to 1365 feet, with the highest portion of the ecosystem existing on the slopes near the North side of the park where “Top of the World” is located. The soil type for this ecosystem is Florence. Florence soils are typically dry and relatively shallow, especially as elevation increases (Keane, 2015). The A1 Horizon of Florence soil found in this area only reaches a depth of 4 feet with the second, or A2 Horizon, only reaching down 9 more feet.
