Olivia watercott There is a girl named Lizzie Velasquez who has a disability only two other people in the world have that we know of. She is extremely smart, loving, beautiful, kind, and confident. There are many positive words to describe Lizzie and unfortunately some people make misrepresentations about Lizzie because they judge a book by its cover. She became a target of cyberbullying when she was younger. An accurate statistic shows that girls are about twice as likely to be cyberbullied than boys. From early on in life she knew she was different, yet she did not know she would make a difference in so many lives. One of the comments were “ Just go get a gun, put it to your head and take yourself out of this world.” None of the people who commented these things got consequences because they were anonymous. Lizzie remembers thinking “ Maybe I should take myself out of this world. If so many people are saying it, then maybe they're right.” Because people make inappropriate actions or words, seven percent of teens attempt suicide. The next year Lizzie went to Texas state University. She said “Over time I learned that the only way I could show people that they weren't going to become my definition and my truth, was to somehow make myself better.” Today Lizzie Velasquez is 28 and is living a pretty normal life. She wants girls to share an anti-bullying pledge on social media using the hashtag #StandUpWithSecret . Therefore, don't let people bring you down. Lizzie once said “ You don't have to look like a supermodel or a movie star to be happy, or successful or whatever you want to be!”. Dream big and don't let haters ruin your life, because YOLO!
