Family Structure: The Knaper family consists of a mother, a father, two sons (ages 4 and 8), two dogs, and a pet fish. Both parents work full time and Logan, the oldest son, is enrolled in 2nd grade at their local public school. He also enjoys being part of karate, basketball, and boy scouts outside of school. Lucas on the other hand is enrolled in full day pre-school at a local private daycare while his parents are at work. Tiffany Knaper works at York Shire Learning Center LIU12 as the main classroom teacher of a multiple disabilities classroom students ages 13-21. The same week Lucas Knaper was born four years ago Logan was diagnosed with Leukemia and went through three painful years of treatment, which put a stress on the families overall dynamic. Now that Logan has been cancer free for a year a new stress has developed. Logan’s behavior has become increasingly violent at home and at school. Now that he is no longer sick he has found strength and is not expressing himself accordingly when he becomes angry or frustrated. Due to this unacceptable behavior Logan has begun to see a psychologist that comes to the home and visits him once a week in order to help him improve his overall behavior especially towards his younger brother Lucas. They also value education and love to read, especially Tiffany and Logan. They do not avidly practice a religion but do believe in God and attend mass on holidays. They also value family and friends an enjoy spending time with both as often as possible.
Ethnicity: The Knapers are Caucasian and have been born and raised in Pennsylvania for several generations. Originally from Lancaster and now residing in York when asked their ethnicity they consider themselves to be white Americans.
Community Resources: As mentioned earlier Logan is involved in several extra-curricular activities that Lucas hopes to one day join as well. They attend several Boy Scout events as well as basketball games and karate practices as a family. Through Logan’s battle with Leukemia they have acquired a THON group form PSU main campus and often get to enjoy events with this group of college students. Additionally, as a schoolteacher, Tiffany involves the boys in several educational community events throughout the year.
