Butler Middle School has a different type of music from the London Symphony/Orchestra. They both are also similar in certain ways as well. I will be comparing “Simple Gifts” and “Declaration and Dance”, played by Butler middle school, to “Mahler Symphony”, performed by London Symphony/Orchestra. First of all they both are similar because they both have multiple instruments all playing. Such as the clarinets. They all play in the piece but they have breaks at the same time. In the piece by London Symphony, the clarinets all play. But they also have rests and have to listen for when they need to start playing again. This is the same for Butler Middle School’s 7th grade band because for the clarinets have multiple measures of rest.
