My paper for a holiday in a Spanish speaking country focuses on the religious festival celebrated in Mexico, Los Posados. This is a little over a week long celebration lasting from December 16th to December 24th. This festival is much like our Christmas in the United States. In a way, we are celebrating the coming of Jesus, but different from how we celebrate because they are more focused on the journey Mary and Joseph made from Nazareth to Bethlehem. In these 9 days they have a small child dressed as an angel leading a procession through the town, made mostly of children wearing silver and gold robes and carrying candles or pictures of Mary and Joseph, also a difference from our Christmas. So even though they are the same in some ways, they are also different. I think celebrating this holiday would be fun and that if I had the opportunity, I would celebrate it. There are so many cool factors that they put into it. It sort of reminds me of a Christmas party with the carols they sing at each stop and the mass they have afterwards. They also read scripture at each stop, one of my favorite things to do. I think this holiday is super cool and it would be so fun to celebrate it! This Mexican holiday has many traditions such as a piata, the procession of carolers led by a child dressed as an angel, and warm drinks and food afterward. Some of the foods they eat consist of tamales, buuelos, atole, and many more. This holiday sounds like a great way to remember the long trip to Bethlehem that Mary and Joseph made many years ago. After there was no room in the inns, Mary gave birth in a stable, laying Jesus to sleep in a manger. This tradition is very important to continue to celebrate Jesus. They have tons of cool traditions and food too! I think celebrating this holiday is important and if I had the opportunity to celebrate it, I
