Losing By 0.01 Analysis

Losing by 0.01 of a second,changes you as a person. Changes you in a way that could break you. All that work, all the races and now it’s over. I guess you could say i’m used to losing, winning is that rare thing that happens after you’ve lost every other time. People talk about my wins more than I do. I almost don’t remember those races, those games. The reason is that you learn twice as much after you’ve failed than after you’ve won. One major thing that I learned is that all you have to do is be better today than you were yesterday. If I lose a race but I ran 0.3 faster than before, I can live with it, I’ll win next time. If i get a 6/10 on a test but it was 2 points better than the last time, that’s ok I’ll Ace it next time. One of the best things my Golf coach and team members recited was “The next shot, is the best shot”. And I think that can apply to anything I try to do“The next race, is the best race”, “The next test, is the best test”. I had sprained my ankle and missed league, district, and state. The next year i worked harder, became stronger and the next year I became horribly sick, but still tried to race, but missed districts and state by 0.01. This past year I worked even harder and got even stronger. I broke my goals and made new ones. I went to league and districts in all four of my events and went to state in two events. I placed 6th in state for the 400m and ran my fastest time of the season during state. But if it wasn't for that sprained ankle, the breathing issue I contracted, and most importantly losing by 0.01 of a second. I probably wouldn't have pushed myself so hard next time.
