There are multiple ways that violence could happen in this situation. The first possibility that could happen is protests and demonstrations against the arrival of Mr. Farrakhan that could cause massive public unrest and disorder. Another possibility that could happen is the arrival of a multitude of non-residents that could threaten the stability of our town. We are a town prides itself on tolerance and acceptance of all, no matter race, religion, ethnicity. Allowing Mr. Farrakhan to come denounce whole groups of people based on their race, religion, or ethnicity would both set a precedence for intolerance and hatred and stoke the flames of barbarity. There are plenty of opportunities for violence that must be contemplated with the arrival of this schismatic commencement speaker, and our police department will most certainly have their hands full with this guest and the ramifications of his speech. There are certainly many individual aspects to consider with our Angelo State University commencement speaker that have to be addressed before he is allowed to proceed with his speech. In recognition and for fear of what he has done before, the University must carefully consider the likely negative outcomes. It is frightening
