It would appear that Louis Pasteur is arguably one of the most important contributors to the field of microbiology. Pasteur was a French scientist who focused on chemistry and microbiology. He was born on December 27, 1822. Pasteur discovered that microorganisms did not “spontaneously generate” but rather were simply transferred from one source to another; he determine that microorganisms were the source of fermentation and disease; he developed process of pasteurization; he rescued the French beer, wine and silk industries from ruin; and his work was crucial to the development of vaccines against anthrax and rabies.
