In Washington, Michael Kahoe, the former chief of violent crimes for the FBI, was charged for destroying a report on a shooting in Ruby Ridge, Idaho. Kahoe pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice and was sentenced to 18 months in prison and fined $4,000 (“National News Brief”). A school shooting happened in Pearl, Mississippi, that left three people dead. Luke Woodham stabbed his mother to death before he went to school and shot his ex-girlfriend and one of her friends (Murderpedia). The World Series was also going on in the weeks after I was born, Sandy Alomar, of the Cleveland Indians, hit the 700th home run in the history of the World Series against the Florida Marlins in game 2 (Arnold). For children who weren’t old enough to play games some of the top cartoons from 1997 were, Sesame Street, Arthur, Looney Tunes, Little Bear, and Franklin (Most Popular TV Shows).
