Romeo and Juliet, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth, Heathcliff and Catherine all have one thing in common. They are works of literature set amongst themes of love and hatred. Love and hate can be said to be what makes the world go round. They are universal, songs and stories of every language have been written about them. What makes them so appealing? What we talk about when we talk about love, the love of my life and A Rose for Emily all have the concurrent theme of an inability to let go and the resulting insanity. Insanity, in this case, can be defined as an unfaltering conviction to pursue the object of their fixation.
