In Louise Erdrich short story “Love Medicine”, the main character, Lipsha, learns a lesson when trying to repair his grandparents love for one another. The lesson that Lipsha witnesses is that one could not fix love by taking alternative means. In the series of events, Lipsha sees his elderly grandfather and Lulu Lamartine participating in infidelity in a laundry room which causes him to try to fix his grandparents love by his abilities of “[t]he touch” (Erdrich 276). Lipsha makes his own take on how to fabricate the love medicine that will cure grandpa of his infidelity so, Lipsha thinks he should use geese hearts in his medicine because they mate for life (Erdrich 282).
